Drinking Chablis? Then you’re having Chardonnay. Sippin’ Pouilly-Fuissé? Ditto. This white wine grape is now planted in almost every major viticultural country, from South Africa to Lebanon. It’s grapes are green and the wines are white. Chardonnay can be treated differently to reveal many different styles, from the citrus and mineral flavors of Chablis, to the woody, buttered popcorn flavors of California. As if this grape didn’t bring enough to the wine world, it is also one of the three major players in Champagne.
