I used to have a job. Then I went back to school, and my budget for the finer things in life is much diminished. So I'm on the lookout for outstanding bargains; wines that are unbelievably good for the price. If I find any I'll be sure to post them here, and I'd love to hear your recommendations!

2004 Castell del Remei Gotim Bru
(2007-07-18 02:20:10 UTC)Vanilla, raspberry, some blueberry, cocoa, and some wood.
2000 Copertino Riserva
(2006-07-31 21:25:49 UTC)For $10.99 it's nice to have something that makes you take a sip and say, "Woah", Keanu Reeves style. Best enjoyed as the label says (at 65-69 degrees F) it is an interesting sipping wine but is probably best paired with grilled meats and more hearty, savory fare such as cheese.
2003 Firesteed Pinot Noir
(2006-05-20 19:10:44 UTC)A lovely pinot noir that I recommend to my friends who want something more sophisticated. Versatile with a wide variety of dishes. Not too sweet, and not too dry, it's a red that even white drinkers seem to like!
2005 Casal Garcia Vinho Verde
(2006-05-20 19:09:04 UTC)A lightly effervescent white. Great with salty snacks and like appetizers, such as anchovies, olives, and cheeses. Must be served well chilled, and should be young (hence the name green wine!) Wonderful on those hot summer evenings with some friends.
2004 The Little Penguin Shiraz
(2006-05-20 19:04:12 UTC)Very fruit forward and on initial taste rather sweet. Not much in way of body, but the price is right and may be better with food rather than on its own.
