2001 Campo Viejo Tempranillo Reserva

This is a fantastic value reserva. Highly drinkable and good for both planned and impromptu occasions. Cannot beat it for the price.

Not as good (by far) as the Torres Viña Esmeralda.

2005 Montecillo Blanco

The Montecillo white is not nearly as good as their (oak flavored, yet fruity) red. That said, this is a worthwhile table wine that many who drink will likely appreciate for its apple-flavored undertones.

I did not find this to be a particularly exemplary Riesling, but others who I opened it for enjoyed it a lot. Lacked the very sweet edge that I like in a Riesling.

2005 Epifanio Red Wine

The folks at the wine store said this would be a heavier red than some of the others I usually stock, so we held off drinking it for a while. I was pleasantly surprised (not being a fan of very heavy wines). It has a nice taste and is certainly not one to be cautious opening.

I actually only got a little bit before guests had consumed the bottle, so my "tasting notes" are rather weak, aside from good sentiment.

NV Montecillo Crianza 2002

This is one of my favorite mid-teens price tag Rioja wines, but it is not for everyone. Dominated by oak flavor, good after taste. Folks tend to really like it or really hate it.

I found this to be a disappointing counterpart to the Cline Red Truck, which I fervently recommend.

2005 Torres Viña Esmeralda

Excellent Spanish white, from a country of course more known for its reds. See Alan's comments; he is spot on.

Even wine novices will enjoy the somewhat tropical taste. Great value as well.

2002 Marqués de Cáceres Crianza

Excellent low-cost Spanish wine that everyone always enjoys. Very good berry flavors. I keep at least one bottle on the rack at all times for impromptu occasions. Serve it once, and folks will ask for it again and again.

It's Reserva cousin of the same vineyard is a good choice if you want to spend a bit more (about $26).

2004 Cosecha Valdubón

Dry with an interesting, perhaps somewhat blueberry-like undertone. It has been several months since I drank this one, but I have given it as a low-cost gift several times since. Less enthusiastic wine drinkers will be more difficult to turn on to this one.
