2005 2005 Las Rocas de San Alejandro Garnacha
(2008-05-09 23:02:00 UTC)NOSE: Cherries and sweet blackberries.
BODY: Dark red and very low alcohol on the taste. Has strawberries and blackberries that fade to a very nice cream going down. RP says 90, and I give it +1 for cost.
2005 Luzon Jumilla Spain
(2008-01-11 01:37:58 UTC)NOSE: 94+ on the nose! A little "hot" but has great cocoa and strawberry notes.
LEGS: Nice and sticky! BODY: Dry and smooth but a little "hot" on the alcohol. The taste is complex and hard to distinguish but mostly spice and berries. I think the alcohol killed it a bit. Let this one decant for 2 hours or more for better tasting.
2005 Ballatore Gran Spumante Sparkling Wine
(2008-01-01 07:17:28 UTC)NOSE: The alcohol was light, a lot sweet fruit (apples mostly.) LEGS: Average viscosity for sparkling white wine. BODY: Semi-sweet to tart (miniature oak monster present for you WLTV fans) with a gentle finish. NOTES: 93 seems high, but for the price, this is amazing wine. If you never tried this because you hate other sparkling whites, you are missing out. Even people who "don't do wine" will love this!
2005 Yellow Tail Pinot Grigio
(2007-12-30 00:13:43 UTC)NOSE: On the nose, apple and citrus came through with a strong apricot kick.
LEGS: Extremely low viscosity (like water.) BODY: Tiny bit dry and and tart. Almost like drinking apple juice without sucrose. The finish was too short.
NOTES: Not a bad wine, but not something I would buy either. This was a gift, and I enjoyed it as such.
2005 Protocolo Red Wine
(2007-12-17 01:53:50 UTC)NOSE:
On the "sniffy-sniff," the alcohol was very prevalent but strong hits of black cherry were fairly obvious. Some hint of strawberry was also dancing around.
LEGS:
Low viscosity (almost non-existent.)
BODY:
Dry and sweet start with those black cherries melting in to a vanilla cream. The finish was short but surprisingly not bitter.
NOTES:
Will try more tempranillo grapes as they are really enjoyable.
