I can officially now claim that I've stopped working out, and instead moved to a diet of cheese, foods cooked in butter, and wine. I'm much happier like this.

I also liked this. Tropical and sweet up front, creamy buttery on the finish, with just the tiniest little blip of acidity at the very end. Also worth mentioning: the label is freakin’ ugly (sorry, it is). It’s all primary colors, and bad type-faces… I would have totally misjudged it, walking down the isle (what was that saying about not judging a book…?)

I also really liked this. I was expecting something quite a bit different, but it's actually pretty subdued. A lot of lush cherry up front (though, not sugary which is nice). Some notes of dark chocolate, and a real surprising amount of structure. The finish is spicy and dry… maybe a little oak heavy, but not too overdone. Very nice—I'd totally buy it again. Paired it with a roasted pork with green peppercorn sauce, rough mashed fingerling potatoes, and sautéed asparagus.

This was absolutely delicious. It's super ripe and juicy, with just a wonderful, smooth mouth-feel. It's got big plum and cola flavors up front, but it manages to balance itself out with some nice subtle tannins, some good pepper and spice in the mid-palate, and nice slightly dry (but just barely) finish. Just wonderful.

I think the above reviews capture this wine pretty well… Dunno that I have a lot to add, other than that I really enjoyed it. Cherry, chocolaty, and dusty—it was delicious. Paired it with a pork roast, and it was awesome.

This was pretty interesting. It was a total impulse buy when getting a 6 pack at safeway—and it doesn't disappoint. Some good flavors of dark cherry, and a bit of cocoa going on, some pretty interesting structure (for a sub-$20 napa merlot) with a good deal on tannins (drank in Jan ‘08, hopefully they mellow out just a tad with a little more age), and a really, really nice finish. Not bad at all. I like the subtlety of the label, as well…

2005 St. Clement Abbott’s Vineyard Chardonnay

This was nice. It's a very typical california chard (read: way heavy on the oak), but if you can get past that, it's got some pretty good stuff going on. Besides the aforementioned crazy oak, on the palate, it's got a lovely thick, viscous mouthfeel. Some flavors of apple, melon, fig, and creamy butter, with a pretty good long (oaky) finish. It reminds me a lot of the early late 90's, early 2000 Sonoma Cutrer. Also, I think it's worth mentioning, the design on the label and cork are very well done.

I also dug this. It's off-dry, so there's some really nice fruit up front, good toastiness, a bit of lemon, some nice nutiness, and a solid lingering finish. Very nice.

This was really not too bad. It's a pretty simple wine, with some generous cherry fruit up front, o.k. structure, soft tannins, and an oaky finish that (thankfully) isn't too over done. I paired it with a roasted pork loin, and it was pretty darned pleasant. Factor in the $12 price tag, and it's not a bad deal at all.

You know, I'm not much of a malbec drinker, so maybe I’m not the best person to be reviewing this—but that said, I really wasn’t a big fan. Some flavors upfront of sour cherry, tons of green bell pepper, kind of an awkward mid-palate, and a weird sour finish. All in all, I found it rather strange and unpleasant.

But maybe that’s just me.

This was nice enough. For a sauvignon blanc, it's got some nice weight to it. Not a whole lot of fruit upfront, but some interesting complexity in the mid palate, some glassiness, and a good amount of citrus in the finish.
