2004 Chateau Ste. Michelle Chardonnay
(2007-02-25 02:01:40 UTC)For those who say, "anything but chardonnay", stop it. Chardonnay has its place in your drinking life. Here's where chardonnay works, particularly this chardonnay.
Get yourself a bottle, and chill it. Then, go out to your favorite seafood take out place, and order yourself a great big fried haddock dinner. Fried zucchini sticks are also a nice accompaniment. Go home, pour a big old glass, and dig in.
When I chose this wine to drink with this dinner, I was looking for contrast. And it did not disappoint. The Chat St. Michelle isn't a big butter bomb chard, but it had just enough butter to work with the simple fish. But what it did best was match up with the salty breading; a smooth, almost sweet companion. It was excellent. Drinking chardonnay with fried seafood made me like chardonnay again.
Try it. You won't be disappointed.

(2007-02-12 03:45:41 UTC)Oh, dear. What a treat. If you see Dale's review of the wine, I was the cooker of the venison roast, and my dad was the taster. It was a sublime eating/drinking experience. this is a wonderful wine.
2005 Red Guitar Navarra Old Vine
(2007-02-12 03:43:56 UTC)Another really good, drinkable red. I joke that I never met a temparnillo/grenache blend I didn't like, and this one holds the standard for me. Fruity, a little dry on the finish, lovely nose. Try it.
2005 Mulderbosch Sauvignon Blanc
(2007-02-12 03:41:28 UTC)I had this at a wine tasting dinner, paired with white asparagus soup with basil oil. It was lovely. Very mineral, a pale yellow color and a very green grassy flavor. Not as wooly as an Australian Sauv Blanc, but a little wild nonetheless. Very enjoyable.

2004 Kunin Zinfandel Paso Robles
(2007-02-12 03:37:49 UTC)Hot stuff. Lucious fruit, almost sweet, silky in the mouth. Good with food, good alone, good time all around.
2004 House Wine
(2007-02-12 03:36:25 UTC)Really lovely fruity red blend that can adapt to just about any red wine drinking scenario. Good to take to a party where you don't quite know the food story, and good for just drinking a glass or 2.
