2006 Greener Planet Shiraz-Merlot Cabernet Sauvignon
(2009-01-31 01:34:44 UTC)This is an organically produced blend. Has a subtle nose of black currant and spices (I noted a little bit of clove and maybe some allspice). First sip was honestly a bit of a turnoff. It had an unexpected bitterness and a very short finish. After allowing the wine to breathe a bit, there were more fruits present and some of the bitterness faded.
Maybe it's the high content of merlot in this wine, but I found it largely unremarkable. It's drinkable and not unpleasant to me in any way, but I was just hoping for a stronger flavor considering the blend and the region.
Probably won't be picking this one up again.
2005 Pure Evil Chardonnay
(2009-01-27 21:45:33 UTC)This wasn't too bad. I wouldn't pair it with anything other than seafoods or subtle cheeses. The flavor isn't overly complex and it's incredibly light.
Probably should only be considered a table wine, but it's drinkable and not at all unpleasant. Lots of citrus flavors in this, which seemed a bit out of place, but pleasant.
2006 Funky Llama Shiraz
(2009-01-17 03:24:57 UTC)Ehh... this wine is probably five dollars for a reason. It's not terribly complex, has a short mouth, tastes watery and weak. Flavor is average at best. I found it to be a drinkable wine, but not one I'd ever buy again. Straightforward, simple, bland. I DID NOT detect any of the peppery flavor the other user tagged
2004 Five Bars Cabernet Sauvignon
(2009-01-14 14:56:35 UTC)Big, full body with dark fruit flavors. Lots of currant and blackberry with a chocolaty finish. Would pair better with red meats and lamb, but a good every day drinker as well.
2004 duo cabernet sauvignon/merlot
(2008-04-29 13:48:50 UTC)I'm actually quite fond of this wine. It's very drinkable and matches well with just about anything you're eating. The blend gives it a big fruity mouth, though the finish is somewhat unremarkable.
Still a great wine for the price, and I can get it at my local supermarket, which is an added bonus.
2005 Bogle 2005 Merlot
(2008-02-27 23:46:29 UTC)Not bad. I prefer the Petit Syrah. This one had a decent finish, but seems weaker in the legs than other Bogle's I've had the pleasure of trying. Drinkable and nice.
2005 Morgante Nero D'Avola
(2008-02-03 00:47:35 UTC)A little heavy on the alcohol, which I would normally expect from a table wine. Nice flavors. All in all, drinkable but fairly unremarkable.
2005 14 Hands Cabernet Sauvignon
(2008-02-03 00:39:34 UTC)Very nice Cab. Has a light nose but a full mouth. Nose has a berry and floral twinge. Really like the spiciness up front. The finish is light and fruity.
2006 Francis Coppola Pinot Noir
(2007-08-13 12:52:57 UTC)Not too bad. I agree with the previous reviewer on the nose. This was a little sweet for my taste. But all in all it wasn't too bad compared to other Pinot Noir I've had from California. I'd prefer and Oregon or Washington State pinot if I had my choice.
