2006 Penfolds Koonunga Hill Shiraz Cabernet 2006
(2008-11-26 02:25:01 UTC)Nice blend, not too heavy on either side, just enough kick to it and goes with any kind of meal. Not an exceptional wine, but a good deal and a safe bet when you're not feeling too adventurous.
Would have given 87/88 but I think the acidity level is a tad too high for my liking.
2005 Avalon Cabernet Sauvignon
(2008-10-01 13:00:52 UTC)I found this to be an excellent wine. After giving it a few minutes to breathe the tannins smoothed out and the tastes rolled in. Will certainly be buying this again in future.
2005 Mad dogs & Englishmen Shiraz Cabernet Monastrell
(2008-06-04 00:42:39 UTC)Purchased this wine mostly because of the name and glad I did. A very spicy, heady concoction that hits all the right spots. Definitely tastes of ginger or pepper, with undertones of chocolate and strawberries. Eclectic and fun.
2006 Michel Lelu Pinot Noir
(2008-06-04 00:33:45 UTC)Unremarkable at first taste, but once the air got to it this Pinot was a nice surprise. A very respectable drink for the price.
2005 Placido Chianti
(2008-05-25 00:34:08 UTC)Really awful. Tastes like wine flavored water with a bit of hydrochloric acid. If you buy this better use it for cooking. One to avoid.
2003 Penfold's Thomas Hyland Cabernet Sauvignon
(2008-05-25 00:28:30 UTC)Dark cherry.
2006 Don Rodolfo Malbec
(2008-05-12 09:38:06 UTC)A fair tasting wine. Bit heavy on the tannins, perhaps a little overripe but overall a nice strong flavor that gets the job done. A fairly decent wine.
2004 14 Hands 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon
(2008-05-11 17:11:01 UTC)In the store I had picked up a red diamond but exchanged it for 14 hands on recommendation by the wine manager - glad I took his advice. Very smooth, well balanced wine - great finish. Apparently this one is popular in restaurants. I can see why.
2004 Ravenswood Shiraz
(2008-05-09 13:03:03 UTC)Very reasonable wine. Bit acrid on the tongue at first taste, once it breathed a little that initial problem went away. Chocolate and a hint of spice.
2005 Red Diamond Cabernet Sauvignon
(2008-04-27 14:21:49 UTC)Very nice indeed. Smooth taste from start to finish. Dark chocolate, oakwood, with a bouquet of morning dew and fallen branches. Best Cabernet I've tried yet.
