2006 The Black Chook Shiraz Viognier
(2007-09-06 13:47:05 UTC)The odor was meaty. I expected to be soon biting into a medium-rare steak. The taste continued to surprise me; I swear that in the Shiraz / Voignier mixture, there was a few percent olive oil.
2005 Domaine des Michelons Moulin à Vent Red Beaujolais Wine
(2007-08-24 16:11:33 UTC)2005 Caymus Conundrum
(2007-08-11 23:37:59 UTC)Fantastic table wine. It's a bit spicy, and not bland. It's full in the mouth, and a teeny bit tart, without being acidic.
It keeps well. Mine lasted in the 'fridge for 4 days after being opened.
2004 Sobon Estate Zinfandel
(2007-07-29 00:15:03 UTC)Sharp and dry. Acidic, at 15% alc. Smells of oak.
The taste stays with your mouth for longer than usual.
2004 Bella Sera Rosso Delle Venezie
(2007-07-28 22:38:33 UTC)2004 Cecchi Chianti Classico
(2007-04-28 00:17:02 UTC)An unremarkable chianti, except that it sat in my refrigerator for a week after being opened and it was still good.
I drank it chilled and warm (78F/25C) and it was good both ways. Don't put it away just because it's the "wrong" temperature according to the mfr.
2002 Marques de Riscal Rioja
(2007-04-18 00:18:27 UTC)A spicy currant with a hint of tobacco.
NV Lakeridge Southern Red
(2007-03-31 09:40:05 UTC)It's a decent-tasting drink, and it doesn't fit many wine categories. I hate to say "not a real wine", but it really is unlike most others. The Florida water, soil, and weather makes for something altogether different.
It's worth a try. My rating above is on normal wine-tasting standards, and this scores very highly on a scale that's orthogonal to that one.
