2007 Robert Sinskey Vineyards Vin Gris of Pinot Noir
(2008-04-20 22:04:51 UTC)Big fruit reminiscent of strawberries but not cloyingly sweet, dry. Somewhat similar to last year's vintage.
2006 Friedrich Becker Estate Spatburgunder
(2008-04-14 05:05:17 UTC)Light bodied, perfect amount of pinot fruit - on par with French Bourgogne, I would pick this over a California pinot any day.
2005 Bodegas Arrocal Ribera del Duero
(2008-04-10 19:37:58 UTC)Fruit bomb is right, but not overly cloying and stood up well with food.
2005 Muga Blanco Rioja
(2008-04-10 19:32:28 UTC)I would not buy this wine again. Dirt and mineral flavor predominated, with sour fruit.
2004 Agua Dulce Angeles Crest Zinfandel
(2008-04-10 19:30:02 UTC)Surprisingly enjoyable. Light bodied and spicy without being cloying or too heavy on the fruit. I am not a fan of jammy zins so this was the best zin I had had in quite some time.
2006 Claude Val Vin de Pays d'Oc Blanc
(2008-04-08 02:27:34 UTC)Hard to describe because it changed so much while we were drinking it, leaving us to keep going back for more to find something different. Fresh fruit without being at all cloying. Mineral, vegetal, pear, cantaloupe, honey, tartness, it's all there in varying amounts. Pairs nicely with grilled vegetables, fish, chicken, dark bread, hummus.
2006 Valmiñor Albariño
(2008-04-05 17:56:18 UTC)Fresh and crisp flavor, not as much fruit as other albarinos, which for me was a good thing. Nice pairing with fish and grilled vegetables. Good wine for summer.
2005 Chateau de Seguin Bordeaux
(2008-04-04 04:19:50 UTC)Initial vegetal funk gives way to bouquet of earth, pencil shavings, graphite, cedar. Smooth, soft mouthfeel with hints of leather, stewed plums, tar, and licorice with mellow tannins.
(Here's to pseudo-pretentious wine reviews!)
2006 Neblina Vinho Verde
(2008-04-02 05:23:33 UTC)Slightly effervescent, crisp, acidic, and a fair amount of fruit. Good food wine for summer.
