2006 Chateau Turcaud Entre-Deux-Mers
(2007-04-28 22:37:15 UTC)Golden raisins, green grass, bright and young. A nice refreshing white from La Sauve Majeure, about 25 miles southeast of Bordeaux.
2003 Honig Cabernet Sauvignon Bartolucci Vineyard
(2007-03-05 15:28:17 UTC)Spicier than their standard cab and slightly more herbacious, but all that same goodness going on. Big new world fruits, silky and ballanced. Stupendous.
2004 Ramspeck Cabernet Sauvignon
(2007-02-24 14:05:49 UTC)A big, flavorful red; walks the line between old-world and new world styling.
Lots of nice flavors up front. Huge mature red fruits, green pepper and casis. No jam or spice and nothing exotic; just ballanced.
The nose is lively as well, and the tannic structure is smooth and medium all the way through until the finish where it finally shows its youth just a bit. Extremely mature for an 04 however. At 12 to 14 bucks a great "3rd bottle in" dinner party wine.
1999 Machiavelli Chianti Classico 1999 Riserva
(2007-02-21 14:09:57 UTC)This wine smells like chocolate and tastes like chocolate. Rich chocolate truffle. With oak and mushroom. Mostly chocolate though.
Other than that, it's ok.
2002 Thomas Fogarty Lexington Meritage
(2007-02-19 09:21:24 UTC)Silky fruits, good tannins, and a powerful finish.
While that all sounds really vanilla (as many tasting notes do) thats really the best way to remember this wine. A well made meritage, really fun to drink, and just keeps getting better the longer you let it open up.
2005 Moshin Vineyards Pinot Noir
(2007-02-18 14:07:33 UTC)This is a nice Pinot.
When you first smell the wine the nose is very bright; almost stings your nose. I also smell something like wet hay and tar. I really want to say poop but that would be very difficult to defend as a positive wine attribute.
The tannins are super young. This '05 is going to be great in another five, but also enjoyable now. You are just going to pucker a little until it really opens up. More bright fruit and green leafy flavors on the mid-palette. The finish is long and pretty tannic (for now).
2001 Firenze Malenchini Bruzzico
(2007-02-11 13:47:53 UTC)Tar, toast and mineral on the nose; slightly alcoholic.
On the palette this wine is very tight, from mid-palette all the way through the finish. Slightly woody with the mineral flavors coming through again. The dominant characteristic however is this sour oak flavour.
Maybe it needs some more time to open up. My first impression however is that I am not a fan of this sangi-cab blend.
