I'm starting to get into wines and have found my palate constantly evolving as I figure out what I really like. My ratings are not entirely based on price but more on taste and the experience (as a wise wine pairing expert once told me, "after you observe, smell, and taste the wine, you should carefully note how it makes you feel."): 1 star - a horrible buy (didn't have many of these and since I don't remember which ones sucked), 2 stars - not the best buy and not something I would buy again, 3 stars - a very likeable and affordable wine (nothing that blows my socks off), 4 stars - something I would definitely would buy again (my socks are half off), 5 stars - reserved for the wines that leave me dreaming and salivating for at least 2 weeks after tasting them (socks are completely off).

2000 Morro Bay Cabernet Sauvignon
(2006-07-14 23:18:59 UTC)First and only sub $10 cab that I know has great quality. It's cherry and gingerbread spice nose is accompanied by a medium to full-bodied flavor that has a short finish with soft tannins. Great deal.
2004 Martin Ray Angeline Zinfandel
(2006-07-14 23:13:28 UTC)Fruit forward nose with a full bodied jammy flavor. Its soft tannins complements its long finish.
2002 Martin Ray Merlot
(2006-07-14 23:10:45 UTC)This wine had a cherry, vanilla, and bright fruit nose. Its medium-body is enhanced by the hints of vanilla and its has a finish with soft tannins. Enjoyable wine.
2005 Mandolina Moscato
(2006-07-14 23:06:41 UTC)Tried this wine in the tasting room and came away refreshed. It's light-body and finish seemlessly ended with a slight crisp. It was not nearly as sweet as other Moscatos that I've tried and was relieved when I stumbled across this find. Great Summer wine.
2003 Mandolina Barbera
(2006-07-14 23:02:15 UTC)Alhtough this wine has a peppery and leathery nose, its full bodied flavor is accentuated by it's robust black currant and pepper flavor. Great with turkey or anything gamey.
2001 Mandolina Dolcetto
(2006-07-14 22:57:34 UTC)Impressed by its black berry, spicy clove, and currant nose. Also impressed by it's medium bodied flavor. Did notice the amount of tannins was high but also noticed that for $7.50, it was a good table wine.
2004 Lucas & Lewellen Riesling Santa Barbara County
(2006-07-14 22:49:30 UTC)Tried this wine in the tasting room and was impressed (with it's taste and price - $7 bucks each). It has a slight floral nose that is accompanied by it's crisp flavor. A good wine with spicy Thai food or a warm Summer afternoon.
2002 Lucas & Lewellen Muscat Canneli
(2006-07-14 22:45:15 UTC)A pleasant wine that got me started on my wine craze. It will always have place on my palate because of that. It has a fruity nose that is accentuated by its light sweetness. Its finish is not sharp at all and is a great wine to end the night.
2002 Lucas & Lewellen Cote Del Sol Cabernet Sauvignon
(2006-07-14 22:42:44 UTC)First Cab that made me rethink what I liked in a wine. Dark cherry nose accented by its full-body and smooth finish. Not many tannins and will be resting a while in my cave. Great quality for it's price.
2004 Cakebread Chardonnay
(2006-07-14 22:33:10 UTC)Tried this wine at the winery and was pleasantly surprised. Many chards are wineries are reverting back to the way chards were intended to be enjoyed. I was happy to find out that this wine was not buttery but quite crisp and had hints of toasted vanilla oak. A great wine for summer and any rich meal.
