Molly Dooker's The Boxer: Do you remember where you bought it?
I don't know how long you've been a member here, but you need to start reviewing! (-;
2006 Zonta Merlot
(2009-07-15 02:01:53 UTC)Color: Deep, Dark ruby red.
Sniffy-Sniff: Dark fruits, specifically dark cherries, black peppery & earthy tones with a back drop of eucalyptus.
Taste: Surprisingly good mouth feel for the amount of acidity. Sour cherries on initial attack, mellowing and incorporating some earthy tones as it moves over the mid-palette, smooth tannins and a medium finish.Cons: Not overly complex, but that doesn't necessarily take away from the experience.
Food friendly. Dark chocolate is a great pairing.
2006 Layer Cake Primitivo

Dark fruit, cocoa, dusty, chocolate liquor.Taste:
Super smooth and chalky (in a good way) on the mouth-feel. Thick blackberry jam, dark chocolate, and a little tar all on the initial attack and moving through the mid-palate. The chalky/chocolate lingers on the finish (medium length).
2006 Penfolds Koonunga Hill Shiraz Cabernet
(2008-10-17 01:38:08 UTC)Dark fruits on the mid-palette. Chalky, Cocoa powder. Silky smooth. Balanced. Good long finish. Delicious. Definitely a fruity wine which I'm not normally into.
Great wine for the price.
Surprised and impressed.

Sour cherries, spicyness – like a good deer jerky.SIPPY-SIP:
Soft tannins, lots of bright fruit dancing on the mid-palette. Finish is long and earthy - nice!CONCLUSIONS:
I enjoyed this wine. A bit more fruity than I usually go for, but the dirt on the finish made this bottle intriguing. I'll certainly go back for more.
2005 Hawkstone Cabernet Sauvignon
(2008-04-13 01:48:23 UTC)COLOR: Deep and inky – beautiful.
NOSE (NO DECANTING):
Lively and bold. Teaming with dark fruit and complimented with notes of eucalyptus.SIPPY SIP (NO DECANTING):
(PROS)Good fruit up front. Medium - Full Bodied. Soft tannins glide over the mid-palette. The nose foreshadowed the eucalyptus flavors. Add a little dirt and earth in the mix. Good peppery finish.(CONS)Some heat towards the finish. I would recommend decanting for a couple of hours before serving. Finish was exciting, but fell off sooner that I like.
FOOD:
Amazing when paired with dark chocolate.
NV HRM Rex Goliath Giant 47 Pound Rooster Pinot Noir
(2008-04-10 03:10:09 UTC)Color:
Medium darkness.Nose (NO DECANTING):
Sharp. Quite a bit of rubbing alcohol that tends to overpower the floral hints. Not a great nose to be sure, but I wasn't expecting much from a sub-$9 bottle.Sippy Sip (NO DECANTING):
Rubbing alcohol on the nose foreshadowed the heat on the mid palette and finish. Drinkable despite this critique - mainly because of the gentle tannins and the presence of some fruit. Peppery finish! A great pizza-night wine.
