Finding beauty in life's simplest pleasures is what makes me happiest. Getting caught up in the complexities of our daily lives, after all, is what keeps us from truly enjoying life. I find great pleasure in finding ways for the things we interact with on a daily basis to be more efficient. Which leads to the best feeling in the world: taking something that would otherwise seem drab or commonplace and being able to turn it into something useful, or better, aesthetically pleasing to one's intrigue. Whether it's photography, music, engineering, or love, life is full of opportunities for the artistic expression of joy and happiness. Ultimately, I just enjoy capturing the simplest things in life and admiring how beautiful the world can be if you just slow down long enough to appreciate it!

2007 Kim Crawford Pinot Noir
(2010-01-03 23:30:43 UTC)I get a strong sense of apple cider that's a tad past it's prime (but still great), slight hint of pear, and cherry notes on the nose. The immediate sweetness is nice for a Pinot Noir, the mid-palate is rich with the oak monster (as @GaryV says) but drops off and has a rather short finish. Pineapple would be fantastic with this wine!
2005 Monkey Bay Rose
(2009-12-07 04:51:00 UTC)There are nice sweet notes of mild strawberry and blueberry on the nose. Immediately I do notice a slightly bitter taste on the mid palette though. The end is short and crisp; not long lasting, but it's not citrousy at all, so it is a nice wine for a buttery seafood dish.
2004 Black Box Wines Merlot
(2009-01-17 02:31:03 UTC)Blueberry and apple notes on those nose. Similar flavors on the mid-palate finish of dry sour apple. The tannins are mild and the finish isn't long by any means, but it's lasting enough to keep you thinking about it well through a bite of good homemade macaroni and cheese.
2005 Lindemans Cabernet Sauvignon
(2008-06-27 04:29:33 UTC)Light hints of raspberry on the nose. Honey and berries in this light flavored wine. Medium level of tannins and slightly thin texture. Rather short finish that doesn't seem to cut through anything. For 7.99 there are much better wines to be had, but that said... you wouldn't be embarrassed to serve this to your guests.
2007 Oyster Bay Sauvignon Blanc
(2008-05-20 02:02:56 UTC)Strong lime on the nose, also a hint of seaweed. Nice crisp lime flavor mixed with orange and grapefruit undertones. very nice acidity level, high enough to cut through food, but low enough to enjoy as just an evening wine. This would be amazing with a creamy/cheesy chicken and pasta dish for sure! This is a definite must try if you are making a nice chicken dish, or most seafood, even a nice tender pork would go really well with this wine.
2004 Jacob's Creek Merlot
(2008-05-14 23:01:27 UTC)Very tight nose with nothing more than a light scent of grape juice with a TINY bit of apple juice. This is a very light bodied wine with a strong watery texture. Slight sour apple and grape flavors. I can't get into this wine at all, it's very light and watery, very little substance or power to go with any food. This is a very poor Merlot effort. You can definitely find something else that's better to drink with your guests!
2006 Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2006
(2008-05-04 01:33:43 UTC)Strong grapefruit, passionfruit, and mango on the nose! Crisp grapefruit flavors, with a light butter and lemon taste on the finish. This wine would go really well with a strongly seasoned seafood dishes, zesty and citrusy seasoned chicken, and pork. Overall, the acidity is a bit overpowering, maybe in a few years that will tame. For a wine by itself it's a bit too strong flavor-wise for me.
Campbells Rutherglen Muscat NV
(2008-05-03 18:24:09 UTC)Very strong nose of honey and raisins. At 17% alcohol you feel lightheaded just smelling this wonderful dessert wine! The consistency of this wine is heavy, thick, and syrupy. The taste has very sweet honey, apricot, and raisin flavors. Absolutely amazing wine, I would suggest this to anyone who wants to impress their friends with an after dinner wine to blow their socks off!
NV Gazela Vinho Verde
(2008-05-02 23:50:10 UTC)First off this is a very bubbly and foamy wine. On the nose there are strong lemon and floral scents. Pear, grapefruit, and other various citrus soda flavors, also that bland polar water flavor on the palette. I get a sour flavor as well that seriously tastes just like grapefruit flavored polar water the tiniest bit of alcohol.
This is a very soda tasting wine, at 9% alcohol you can't really notice the alcohol on the glass.
It's not bad, but definitely not elegant. I would not serve this to friends with a home made dinner. Maybe with bbq chicken or pizza though. :)
2005 Beringer Vineyards White Zinfandel
(2008-04-30 23:56:54 UTC)Clean, fresh, and sweet lemon/citrus on the nose. Light and smooth texture with a strawberry flavor. Hint of lemon and lime, some fake watermelon flavor in there too. The other flavor I'm getting is red apple juice, which adds a nice tart component to offset the sweetness. This is a beautifully crafted wine and at 10.5% it has an excellent smooth, yet slightly short finish.
This would go excellent with a lemon-pepper chicken or a nice seasoned salmon.
