2003 Castell Del Remei Tempranillo 50% Cabernet Sauvignon 20% Merlot 20% Garnacha 10%
(2006-07-08 08:59:39 UTC)Definitely a good red for the price. Musty when first uncorked, it opens up over the course of a half-hour. Medium bodied, slighltly acidic, hints of berry (blueberry, like Three Rings Shiraz), and a sweet finish. I might decant this, the next time I open a bottle.
2003 J.K. Carriere Willamette Valley Pinot Noir
(2006-07-07 21:20:25 UTC)Delicious and well-balanced pinot noir. Had this at North Pond Cafe in Chicago last year--was perfect with the lamb and the steak.
2000 Storybook Mountain Vineyards Zinfandel Estate Reserver
(2006-07-07 21:16:20 UTC)Terrific zinfandel. Had this on Valentine's Day at Les Nomades in Chicago.
2005 Alvarinho
(2006-07-07 21:00:31 UTC)Fruity with a tart finish. A little too acidic for chicken, but good with tomato dishes or rich appetizers.
2004 Bodegas Arrocal Ribera Del Duero
(2006-07-06 21:59:02 UTC)Good, well priced wine. A little light if you're used to juicier, heavier wines, but this is balanced and perfect for light summer dinners.
2003 Hess Select 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon
(2006-07-06 21:23:25 UTC)Lovely start, but flat middle, and weak ending.
2004 Macon-Villages
(2006-07-05 23:17:44 UTC)Tasteless. Like drinking water, without the filtration.
2004 Three Rings Shiraz
(2006-07-05 19:47:59 UTC)Thick, inky wine with pronounced blueberry. Slightly acidic. Yummy.
NV Sharpe Hill Ballet of Angels American White Wine
(2006-07-05 19:44:59 UTC)Terrific summer white wine. Like Conundrum (but half the price) and Evolution #9 (but with more grapefruit). I serve this wine with artichoke dip, crostini, and marcona almonds--everybody's happy!
2001 Turley Lodi Zinfandel
(2006-07-05 19:31:45 UTC)Turley's so rich, it's like drinking midnight.
