KAHUNA, I would welcome the opportunity. I spend a lot of time looking for different things, as strange and unique as I can find. I'm honored for your request. Let me add mention of 'De Long's Wine Grape Varietal Table'. It is a large format chart of 184 'of the world's favorite wine grape varieties' organized by body, acidity and color. Suitable for framing. A brilliant bit of research out of London. You can find it for sale on Amazon. They also have an international org. called the Century Wine Club: http://www.winecentury.com/
You have to have tried a minimum of 100 different grape varieties to join. I'm working on my membership! I'm somewhere around 40 or so.
I'll be in touch. Cheers.
KAHUNA,
In light of your earlier comment I think I'll start a thread to discuss wines 13% alc. and under. I have very fond memories of a New Year's party my wife and I enjoyed in our wretched cold-water pension in the 19th arron. in Paris many winters ago. There was a cafe downstairs. The proprieters threw a party for the locals and live-ins, hard working class and ancient folk, including two WW1 vets. We were invited, the odd americans who were willing to endure a freezing Paris winter. They offered up everything in their bar. We ate and drank from 6 to mid-night, from rough and rustic wines to cognacs and, of course, Champagne as the year turned. Apart from the cognac, the night would have devolved into a mumbling, soaked mess had it not been for the low alc. of the wines. I tell you, there is an art to drinking, and boy, do the French know how to do it. One of the best nights of our lives.
KAHUNA,
Thanks for the Drinking Buddy invite. I'm cool with Brokeback. Known many a Montana cowboy with 'issues'. Makes tougher men. Wait...is that GV?
You must be signed in, and one of kahuna's Drinking Buddies before you can comment.
