2008 Loosen Bros. Riesling “DR. L”
(2009-10-22 01:58:35 UTC)Color: Golden white / Crystal
Hue: A step back from paleNose: Minerals, river rock, slight acid, light pear, honeysuckle
Taste: Sweet at front - Granny Smiths & Honeydew, Delightful German Pilsner lager bitterness on back end.
Flavor occurs: Tip of tongue and rearmost edges
Body: Light, glides over palette
Finish: Quick
Sweetness: Like ripe Granny Smith applesAdditional notes: THIS is a riesling that really excites me. It doesn't overplay the sweetness, the Pilsner back end is a nice surprise. I'm only disappointed that it's called "Dr. L" and not "Dr. J"

Taste: Sweet! Apple and pear, cane sugar syrup, Smarties candy, Canned peaches in light syrup
Flavors occur: Middle of palette, slightly toward front
Body: Light syrup
Finish: Quick fade
Sweetness: Dead on with Smarties candyAdditional notes: Interesting wine, not bad by any stretch but not for me, at least not on a regular basis.
Tasted at: Tastings, Indianapolis 19 October 2009

Split the difference of 85 and 87 with an 86. It's slightly more alluring than "drinkable and unobjectionable."

Hey GV! (Calling you GV is cool, right?) Love the redesign of the site here. I joined corkd back in... 2006, a few months before my 21st after *ahem* I somehow acquired a pinot grigio and carmenere blend. Went inactive shortly thereafter, but am glad to be back now and legally so!
