2000 Saxon Brown Zinfandel

Big and tart, the wine evaporates quickly off the tongue and is somewhat thin yet very complex. Dominant flavors of blueberry and raspberry, with notes of licorice, strawberry and cinnamon, and a long, oaky finish. Makes a big impression and is probably best paired with a mild cow's milk cheese or simple beef or pork dish. We tried it with a rich spicy pasta and the boldness of the pasta and the wine tended to overpower each other. Awakens the senses. Highly recommended.
