Not sure what all these non-reviewing nay-sayers are looking for in a wine. I have been enjoying Shiraz from SA lately, and this is no exception. Tasty dark cherry flavoured fruit hits the nose, the taste.. complex and nice, i found it a tad tart, the lovely finish maintains the fruitiness but with yummy licorice / ethiopian coffee notes.

Despite the description it's not overpowering either, not as tannic as many cabernets or as strong as a big syrah. For me, this style is a bargain.

Not too juicy, enough tannin to give it a bite- fairly zingy on the tongue with a light peppery finish.

Primary falvours seemed to be raspberry, cherries and plum. Slightly woody.

On the whole very nice and recommended.

Didn't taste nearly as good the next day after opening.

2005 Shiraz Mataro

'Good Earth, Fine Wine'. I'll drink to that. I'm quite a fan of shiraz, and i'd never heard of mataro so I thought i'd try it out.

Quite a soft wine, but not as soft as what you'd expect from california. I imagine the 'touch of oak' is what stops this from being boring. To me it had a slight pepperminty after taste that was quite pleasant and I imagine this would a good wine to go with a pasta dish.
