dude, I am also in withdrawal for Buon Amici Wine Club meeting!!! I just spoke to Stephany, and she definitely thinks THIS WEEKEND! What about you guys, what works best for you guys? Friday night vs Saturday night vs Sunday night???
Your place? Stephany mentioned that your A/C is busted? If so, we don't mind hosting, whatever works best!
Nico, the girls making any progress with the wine night? I'm going into withdrawl, may be time for another Buon Amici wine night.
2001 Rotllan Torra Reserva Priorat
(2007-08-09 17:57:03 UTC)Nose: This wine had an amazing nose that was quite unique. Detected dark fruits with the interesting twist of peanuts, maybe even peanut butter. I would enjoy smelling this wine for a while. Taste: Somewhat different from smell, more oak/tannins and again veggies but nice fruit finish that complimented overall taste well. Was a little let down on taste though after the amazing smell. Still a good wine!
2004 Bodegas Castano Hecula
(2007-08-09 17:53:14 UTC)Nose: Faint nose, but I detected subtleties of tobacco and dirt. Taste: Oak, cherry, pepper, and green veggies on the tongue. This wine was classic Old World and would have benefited from being allowed to breath for a bit before drinking. Great value!
2005 3 Rings Barossa Valley 2005 Shiraz
(2007-07-06 20:40:25 UTC)On the nose this wine had a sour, alcoholic smell to it that covered any other scents. The taste was a bit hot, but had an unexpected sour apple/citrus finish. Overall any complexity of this wine was hidden by the strong sour/citrus finish.
2004 2004 Yalumba Shiraz Viognier
(2007-07-06 20:36:01 UTC)This was a very interesting wine. Color was very dark purple with a orange/yellow edge. On the nose I detected rose and violet with underlying hints of chocolate. The taste was great, classic Shiraz dark fruits with a floral finish from the Viognier and some oak. The Viognier component grew as this wine breathed. Overall very interesting, nice wine.
dude... shall we wine tonight? Unfortunately I have to leave to the airport scarily early tomorrow/Saturday so it'll have to be more low key for me. Maybe "Best Cellars" or a wine at my place? You can see my cellar here (some bottles I've bookmarked)! If we can't do it today, then another day!
