I'm so used to the New Zealand style Sauvignon Blanc and kept expecting the same flavors out of habit. Loved the floral component added to the familiar crisp tartness.

Very light-bodied. Flowers, lemon, and stone-fruit come to mind, though nothing is very dominant. Not enough fruit for the acid so the finish seemed a bit too tart. Great for sipping or a with a light lunch.

Grace was correct that this is not your typical California Cab. It is a blend of 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Syrah, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot. It took me awhile to warm up to this wine. It was definitely tight. Hell, it was just released this past May so not sure why I would expect any different. The CabSauv presence just seemed lacking to me (though my wife disagreed so it perhaps could be a lingering sinus infection clouding my senses). The wine was good, but not great. I will enjoy the next bottle for sure but will definitely give it some time to develop.

Caramel, pear, and baked apples are evident, but the hazelnut finish is the money shot. Its like a taste of the most intense hazelnut crème brûlée without the excessive sweetness... Had to up this by a couple points after further tasting. Its the perfect nightcap. Does seem a little sweeter and more tart after a couple weeks.
