NV Piper Sonoma Methode Champenoise
(2010-01-03 21:30:47 UTC)This is a nice, solid sparkling wine, well balanced, dry, tasty. Definite notes of pear. A little too much mousse for me. Not complicated or particularly exciting. I found it perfect for making champagne cocktails on New Year's Eve.
2008 Alamos Malbec
(2009-11-22 15:09:08 UTC)I liked this a lot, but it was definitely a little on the acidic side for my taste. It had an interesting and subtle flavor, but with a little too much sourness in the background. I'd drink it again, though. Definitely a great value at my local grocery for $9 or $10. I didn't really get much sweetness or fruit.
2007 Penfolds Koonunga Hill Shiraz-Cabernet
(2009-10-10 15:36:31 UTC)I wasn't crazy about this one. A little too astringent for my taste. I drank it without food -- it probably would have been better if I had eaten something with it. A lot of tannin, but a nice rich finish.
Thanks! Love the new site features. This place is fantastic.
2007 Bogle Old Vine Zinfandel
(2009-09-20 01:56:29 UTC)Nice, solid everyday wine. Easy to drink. Smooth, fruity, lots of dark berry notes. I'm not crazy about Zinfandel but I'd buy this again.
2006 Water Wheel Memsie
(2009-07-05 01:35:03 UTC)Nice, inexpensive, fruity (but still pretty dry) and not too challenging. I drank this sitting in my backyard with a couple of tuna steaks I'd just grilled. It's a nice, casual wine with enough interesting notes not to be boring.
2006 Teusner Shiraz ( Ebenezer Road )
(2009-04-14 21:54:47 UTC)A lot of berry in this one. I don't have the right vocabulary to describe it, but it was very good. A lot of tangy, spicy notes with a fair amount of acidity. It seems like a good value to me, and I would buy it again.
NV SCHARFFENBERGER BRUT SPARKLING WINE
(2009-02-01 03:59:56 UTC)A little on the sour side, kind of frothy, but very good. Lots of green apple and plum.
2005 Yalumba Siraz Viognier
(2009-01-26 02:41:43 UTC)Not bad, not spectacular. Easy to drink. Very sweet and fruity. I've had worse, but it's a little high-priced for what you get.
2006 Penfolds Bin 138 Shiraz-Grenache-Mourvèdre
(2009-01-26 02:33:39 UTC)Very fruity and full without being too sweet. Easy to drink, smooth, not much acidity.
