2005 Château de Mattes-Sabran Corbières Le Clos Redon
(2008-04-29 00:12:14 UTC)Easy drinker indeed. Pepper, roasted red pepper, and red raspberry on the nose. Killer/bitter tannins. However a lack of acidity makes it feel a bit flabby. Medium finish. But superlatively drinkable. Pretty tasty. I just wish it wasn't so flabby and had a little more mid-pallet complexity.
NV Novella Chardonnay mixed vintage
(2008-04-21 22:49:09 UTC)One of the most bland wines I've ever had. Nothing offensive but nothing must else either. A little apple, that's it.
2006 Benton Lane Williamette Valley Pinot Noir
(2008-04-20 15:42:46 UTC)Smoky rich nose with vanilla, cherries, earth, strawberries, and red raspberries. The midpallet was a little dull (the weakest point of the wine) but there are some decent tannins and good weight. The finish is long and flavorful. Good wine.
2000 Kendall-Jackson Great Estates Arroyo Seco Chardonnay
(2008-04-19 04:47:00 UTC)Lovely nose of butter, apples, and tropical fruit. Good weight on the mouthfeel with decent acidity for being 8 years old. I'm impressed.
2004 Agrícola Falset-Marça Montsant Old Vines
(2008-04-13 23:42:21 UTC)This wine is pretty simple. There is some black currant and some good richness on the nose. With decent balance on the pallet. Good with food but nothing over the top exciting.
2005 The Red Square Hawkes Bay Pinot Noir
(2008-04-10 15:06:40 UTC)Pretty standard simple New Zealand Pinot. Light/medium body with OK tannins, good acidity, cherry, strawberry, and a little earth. Not bad but really simple.
2005 Feudi Di San Marzano Primitivo
(2008-04-01 00:00:39 UTC)I wasn't expecting much, so I am pleasantly surprised. Lots of plums on the nose with a little cream. The pallet has some cherries as well and a little baking spice. The balance is a little off. I wish it had more of both tannins and acidity. The finish is medium. Good juice esp. for the price.
2004 Domaine La Millière Merlot Vin de Pays de Vaucluse
(2008-03-23 15:37:23 UTC)This wine is incredably closed (or it's just simple). The nose shows smoke, red currant, and just a touch of spice. The mouth is dead, but what's there is pleasant and balanced. The finish is nice, considering, but there's a touch of funk at the end. I wanted more, but I can't complain.
2006 A to Z 2006 Pinot Noir
(2008-03-16 13:44:27 UTC)This is a pretty simple Pinot Noir. Decent fruit, a little earthiness. It was pretty high in acidity, so it would be great with food. It lacks tannins and length.
2004 Chateau du Donjon Minervois Grande Tradition
(2008-03-13 01:02:25 UTC)The nose on this one kicks ass. There's vanilla, cedar, raspberry, plums, and a little tomato juice/blood as well. The pallet is more of the same with good solid tannins and a long long clean finish. This is good stuff. I wish I had taken the guy's advice and bought 3 or 4 more bottles. I can't wait to see what the second half of this bottle does tomorrow.
