2001 McRae Wood Shiraz

I had this wine at The Fat Duck Restaurant in Bray Berkshire, UK. It was recommended as a big, vibrant red that was easy on the pocket (I still paid 59 pounds though).
It is luscious, smooth, and heavy. The tannins are wonderfully soft, and it showed more old-world Syrah earthiness than most Australian Shiraz(es). The blackberry is heavy and concentrated, both on the nose and palate.
