50% Wine Sophisticate, 50% Viking. I try to walk the ever so fine line between immersing myself in the pleasures of wine culture, and immersing myself in my neighbor’s pool after an evening of drunken debauchery.

2007 Mommy's Time Out
(2009-07-18 05:24:45 UTC)Anise and bright fruit on the nose. Lots of berry flavors with earth, tar, and spice. Quick transition with some heat and spice/pepper notes on the finish.
2006 Bonterra Chardonnay
(2009-04-05 04:05:51 UTC)Pale straw color. Seductive nose bursting with minerals, wild flowers, and some serious citrus. Lively acidity with an explosion of creamy vanilla, pineapple, apple, and melon. Beautifully balanced finishing off dry with layers of flavors framed by a perfect blend of French and American oak. Only weak point is the shorter than hoped for finish. Tasting more like a Chablis than a typical Cali Chard that would normally sell at this price point.
2006 Red Rock Reserve Merlot
(2009-04-04 03:36:52 UTC)Fruit forward. Jammy. Plum and spice up front. Some cola coming in mid palate. Mild tannins and low acid but overall balanced. Softly stated oak more like pencil shavings or cedar, (bonus points). Be careful pairing. Pleasant enough and a smooth drinker.
2004 Ménage à trois California Red Table Wine
(2009-03-29 16:33:29 UTC)Emphasis on "table wine" but in a good way. There's lots of raspberry and blackberry in the forefront with herbaceous tones and noticeable black pepper as well. You’re casual wine drinking friends will say "yummy". Very approachable.
2006 Bogle Vineyards Petite Sirah
(2009-03-29 04:25:30 UTC)Deep purple approaching blue in color. Oak on the nose with dark fruits and spice. Oak almost takes over first on the palate followed by the dark fruit. Sour cherry, soy sauce, and white pepper as well on the mid palate. Softening on the finish with vanilla.
2006 Il Bastardo Sangiovese
(2009-03-28 23:54:27 UTC)Cherry, leather and dark fruits. On the lighter side with a short finish. Ok pizza wine.
