I'm from Little Rock, AR. After college, my wife and I have moved to Houston. We drank wine for many years, but did not fully appreciate it. We love it now and are hooked!!

2005 Nora Albarino 2005

GV reviewed this one, so my wife and I had to try it. The nose was an easy spot of pear and green apple. The acidity was apparent, but subtle. The NORA had a very good mouthfeel that totally coated our palate. Mid-palate and finish added a little bit of lemon custard. The only oak noticeable was on the finish. We drank this on over 2 nights with salmon steak grilled on a cedar plank the second night. It paired perfectly. Great QPR as well.

This bottle was our first St. Emilion. The nose had deep dark chocolate, espresso, and vanilla/black cherry scents. The nose was very, very intriguing. The tannins were nice and firm with an awesome cherry cola flavor on the midpalate. The finish was long with a sour cherry and coffee flavors. We were quite happy with this relatively inexpensive St. Emilion.

2005 d'Arenberg The Hermit Crab

My wife and I were really excited about this bottle. We had heard a lot of good things The Hermit Crab. The nose was filled with lemon zest and mandarin orange flavors. It even had scents of watermelon as well. The acidity was high enough to make it a great food wine. Again lemon zest conquered the finish. It went very well with baked Tilapia that we had for dinner that night. I look forward to trying the 2006 when it comes out.

2003 Chateau Moulin-Haut Villars

The wine started off with a nose of dark cherries, floral overtones and a subtle cedar odor. The tannins were light and the midpalate was extremely vegetal and bell pepperish. The finish ended with a earthy and dirty aspect with little fruit. Don't think I will purchase this again.

I am making my way around the world. We have tried US wines, Aussie, Portugal, Spain, and now we hit france. I really like Bordeaux, but I prefer left bank over right bank currently. Our tastings go similar to this: St Julien, St Estephe, Paulliac, St Emilion, Lelande de Pomerol, Cote de Castillion, Fronsac.

2004 Mitolo Jester 2004 Shiraz

We had this wine decanted for 2 hrs. Right off the bat, smells of blueberry cobbler filled the room. Jester was an inky dark good Aussie Shiraz experience. The tannins were sweet and chewy. The finish showed a little heat but was nicely integrated with the fruit. The beautiful part of this wine was the mouth-coating feeling while drinking. @$19, I will buy again.

Great Kosta Brown show today! What I would give for a few bottles of those.
