2006 Penfolds Koonunga Hill Shiraz Cabernet 2006
(2009-05-25 22:10:12 UTC)Not a bad wine for the money although I usually spend more and this reinforces why. Very run-of-the-mill and somewhat course. Good fruit, but no integration of flavors, lacks balance and it has no elegance if you will, but that should not be expected in this price range.
2003 Pieve Del Vescovo Lucciaio 2003
(2009-04-10 23:53:33 UTC)Deep beautiful red color. Earthy, herbaceous nose with dark berry aromas, just reminds me of the Italian countryside (Sangiovese coming through?). Solid body with a hint of bacon fat and again dark berries in the flavor profile. Nice effort to be enjoyed with "Sunday Gravy".
2005 Altos De Luzon Jumilla
(2009-04-10 19:23:52 UTC)Smooth, well rounded, quite delightful. Would absolutely buy again, especially at this price. Dark fruits with spice and licorice rule the day. Supple finish.
2004 Palm Cellars Zinfandel (Karen's)
(2009-03-13 19:04:38 UTC)Absolutely terrible. I poured the bottle out. Tasted more like a crappy Port wine than a zinfandel. Very stewed, alcoholic flavors that made me spit out the first sip and toss the bottle. It even had a touch of carbonation which further trashed this Zin.
2005 Potel-Aviron Moulin A Vent Vieilles Vignes
(2009-03-13 18:59:54 UTC)Allowed to decant for over an hour before drinking. lots of strawberry and flowers in both aroma and flavor. Delightfully cream and smooth on the palate. Some earthiness creeps in.
2002 Clos Severi Crianza
(2009-03-13 18:55:54 UTC)Absolutely delicious. Big dark fruits with a very smooth finish which lasts for 30 seconds or more.
2005 Orogeny Pinot Noir Sonoma County Green Valley
(2008-12-27 19:34:40 UTC)Pleasant enough, but not a classic Pinot profile. Low on the QPR scale. I had significantly better Pinot Noirs at this price.
2005 Falesco Vitiano
(2008-12-27 19:23:42 UTC)Tight nose at cork pop, but opened up with a few hours of decanting. Picking up cherry and a little tobacco flavors. Smooth with a slightly dry finish that is meant for food. Nice QPR.
2003 Antoniolo Gattinara Osso San Grato
(2008-12-27 19:17:43 UTC)Outstanding Gary V recommendation. Quite divine. Check out Gary's review at:

One of the best wines I've had this year.
2002 Ciacci Piccolomini d'Aragona Brunello di Montalcino
(2008-12-27 19:06:18 UTC)Absolutely delicious wine that paired well with an Italian dinner. Enticing aroma of spiced cherries. Smooth with a complex finish.
