2001 Salvalai Amarone della Valpolicella Vejo
(2008-01-26 03:39:41 UTC)Chocolate covered cherries, black plum, tobacco and a milky element on the nose. Flavours of chocolate and cherries (again), tart raspberry and a tiny bit of cherry-cola. Mouthfeel is creamy, tannins are supple, acidity and alcohol are well balanced. Great wine!
2005 Andrew Rich Pinot Noir Cuvée B
(2008-01-25 04:22:33 UTC)This doesn't give too much on the nose, a bit of cherry and dirt. More cherry flavours, with plum. Acidity is a bit on the bright side.
2004 Soos Creek Artist Series #4
(2008-01-20 04:52:44 UTC)Blueberry, dark cherry, blackberry, vanilla, black pepper and smoke on the nose. Flavours are cassis, cherry and black licorice. A bit 'oaky' but not over the top. Alcohol and acid are balanced, and the tannins are soft. Well made!
2003 Isenhower Looking Glass Syrah
(2008-01-19 02:01:27 UTC)Not too much on the nose, some blueberry, tobacco and just a touch of barnyard. Lovely flavours of cherry, blueberry, cassis and well integrated oak. Acidity and alcohol are well balanced.
2006 Selbach Oster Riesling Spatlese Zeltinger Schlossberg
(2008-01-17 02:11:26 UTC)Ripe apple, pear and peach notes on the nose. More ripe apple flavours with some white grapes. The fruit in this wine is pure, but the acidity seems toned down. The finish is clean and slightly sweet.
2003 DeLille Doyenne Syrah
(2008-01-12 03:52:50 UTC)Lovely nose of vanilla, blueberry, blackberry, dark cherry, bacon and tobacco. Flavours are cherry, black plum, blueberry, and black licorice, with some well integrated oak and just a touch of smokiness. Tannins are smooth and the acidity and alcohol is well balanced. The finish on this wine is long and impressive. A well made and elegant wine!
2003 Henschke Tilly's Vineyard
(2008-01-06 06:10:27 UTC)Lovely lemon peel, green apple and minerality on the nose, with a bit of funkiness. Sour green apple, white grape flavours with more minerality and a tiny hint of coconut. More old world in style. An excellent effort.
2003 Alvear Pedro Ximenez de Anada
(2008-01-06 06:02:19 UTC)This has gobs of raisin on the nose, with a bit of fig too. Very sweet and syrupy, this tastes like liquid raisins. Simply, and delicious, but a bit too sweet for me.
2000 Tommasi Amarone della Valpolicello Classico
(2008-01-05 04:57:22 UTC)Dark cherry, some cocoa, tobacco and a bit of barnyard on the nose. Sour cherry, chocolate, and raisin flavours. Acidity is a bit obvious, but the tannins are well integrated and it has a medium-long finish.
2003 Barossa Valley Estates Ebenezer Shiraz
(2008-01-03 03:45:00 UTC)This wine has a very port-like nose. Notes of kirsch, blackberry, blueberry, black plum, black licorice and tobacco. Dark cherry, blueberry and vanilla flavours, with a tiny bit of raisin. The alcohol and tannins are pretty well integrated, but it finishes pretty quickly.
