1998 Montecillo Gran Reserva 1998 Rioja
(2008-07-17 01:02:36 UTC)Corkd... sad to say but we waited to long for this one. There is also the chance that it was heat damaged before we recieved it. Either way if you have it try it soon. It was still wine, but just barely.
2003 Marques de Riscal Rioja Reserva
(2008-07-17 01:01:01 UTC)Great with Pizza! Spicy and dark cocco, w/ plenty of fruit. Full flavor, initial, mid and finish.
2005 Santa Barbara Winery ZCS
(2008-07-13 15:29:40 UTC)A real crowd pleaser! Bright strawberry , pure fruit flavored wine. Very crimson color to it, smooth with great 'mouth feel'. Opens up well, I decanted it very briefly out of the bottle.
2006 Cotes du Rhone Drive Droite
(2008-07-13 15:25:11 UTC)Super dry red, like sucking on aburnt up charcoal briquette. It was a tough sell at a party last night b/c it was in between to very fruit forward wines.
That being said, I like it alot and especially paired with some flavorful cheese and charcuitere I think its a great buy. It screams Rhone valley, drinkable now french style wine.
2005 Boarding Pass Shiraz
(2008-07-12 18:10:53 UTC)Big, silky smooth and oaky Shiraz. Tons of dark fruit. This wine was a big hit last night with my friends. A bit of coffee flavor on the finish. Amazing packaging, worth the price on its own!
2006 hugl weine ZWEIGELT '06
(2008-07-10 01:02:05 UTC)Rosey red w/ purpley edges in color.
Bright strawberry fruit flavors, thick and dark fruit on the nose.
Nice finish that I can't quite put a descriptor on but it doesn't leave you hanging!
2005 Don Ramon Oak Aged Red
(2008-05-18 14:00:55 UTC)Tannic, berry flavor. Goes very good with tzatiki and pita.
Cheap, fun bottle... lots of flavor.
2006 Santa Digna Carmenere REserve
(2008-05-18 13:57:06 UTC)Very purple in color. Fairly tight nose. Immediately made me think of spaghetti.
A bit tart/tangy...almost a game'y taste? I liked it but didn't love it. Want to try again with pasta and sauce.
1979 William Hill Mt Veeder Cabernet Sauvignon
(2008-05-18 02:08:48 UTC)Brown-red color coming out of the bottle, almost port like in appearance. Tingly at first and a long lasting flavor, not very acidic. Bright, light weight, tons of fruit - berry flavors but not sweet. Excellent mouth-coating feel, very good!
I allowed it to decant about 6 hours and had it with a fillet mignon topped with gorgonzolla cheese. Can't recommend the combo higher! This is a birthday year wine for me so I may be biased. Enjoy!
