Red Wine Zinfandel by Ridge from Napa Valley, California. 79% zinfandel, 18% petite sirah, 3% carignane Budbreak was early, and mild spring weather contributed to a uniform-if moderate-set. Summer temperatures were warm, but never extreme. In mid-August, three weeks before we typically harvest, our interns ... Continued at wine.com ›

(over 2 years ago)The addition of petit syrrah to this zinfandel results in a great, well-rounded wine. There's still that underlying spiciness and boldness you find in a typical zin, but its softer, fruitier, and therefore much more drinkable/accessible.

(over 2 years ago)Milder and smoother than your typical Zin. Black Currants and mild spice with a smooth finish. Delicious. Had mine with filet mignon... yum

(over 2 years ago)Delicious balance with just enough zing to remind you it's a zin -- zesty with hints of currant and blackberry.
Ridge 2004 Lytton Springs Zinfandel
(over 2 years ago)With intense, nearly impenetrable garnet color, this wine shows its Sonoma heritage immedately. The nose is initially full of leather, pepper, and earthy notes, opening to ripe berries very quickly. It's very full-bodied, and lingers in the mouth for up to a minute. The blend of Zinfandel with Petite Sirah and Carignane really rounds out the usual hotness and spice of California Zinfandel with some fruit and milder background. This wine is great now, especially with game or cured meats, but will really open up in 3-4 years.

(about 1 year ago)Nose was full of currants and a hint of cherry. I agree with the previous review that it was pretty smooth for a zin, probably due to the petite sirah being 18%, though still well balanced and the finish lasted about 20 seconds. A very good zin!

(about 1 year ago)Dark, rich, warm berry-fruit taste with a spicy finish. Delicious blend.

(about 1 year ago)WOW! Must get more immediatelly. Ridge has a pretty decent reputation for Zins, but this has to be my personal fave of theirs. I didn't want the glass to ever end. The fruit (blackberry, raspberry, cherry) is well balanced soft spice (vanilla). Very nice.
