Tortoise Creek 2005
(about 1 year ago)A solid choise for the price range. Definately under $15 USD, and probably cheaper. The wine itself is chewy (in a good way) and solid as a sipping wine all alone with no food. Smelled full of berries, flavors were full of cherry and casis. Served with blacked catfish with Mango salsa; the wine stood up to the seasonings on the fish very well. Seemed a solid food/wine paring. After the meal there was some wine left and we drank the rest without any additional food. The wine drinks well on its own.
