(over 2 years ago)Medium body. Tart finish. Notes of chocolate, oak, blackcurrant. Agreeable, not overpowering. Great name.

(over 2 years ago)This is an enjoyable wine. Medium bodied, subtle spices, decent finish. Overall good value. Drinkable, but would serve with red meat dish...stir fry, burgers, etc.

(over 2 years ago)Drinkable, Good on its own. I had a better bottle of the Concha Y Toro Frontera Carmenere, but unfortunately that was an unique experience.

(over 2 years ago)Enjoyably drinkable and not overpowering. Medium body, dark fruit & smoke. Good value.

(about 1 year ago)Woodsy is good descriptor used by another reviewer. A little toasty, a little fruit, reasonable tannins, not burning down your mouth with alcohol (13.5). You've got to try this with fajitas!! You could do worse for $9. 2005 Reserve

(about 1 year ago)I found this wine to be bold and spicy, yet not overpowering, and quite enjoyable. Although there were hints of fruit, "spicy" is what left a lasting impression for me. The wine smooths out considerably with breathing. For the price, it is a great dinner wine. It paired well with fabulously thick grilled burgers.

(3 months ago)After cellaring the wine until now (12/24/08), I am re-tasting the wine to find that it has mellowed and improved significantly since my last tasting almost 2 years ago. The nose reveals strong plums, berries with peppery overtones. On the palate this medium to full bodied wine projects a well balanced mix of berries, tobacco, and notes of pepper. The finish is rather smooth with mild tones of vanilla. Age definitely played a positive role with this wine. I do not agree with those who say that inexpensive wine does not benefit from aging. Some do and some don't - just like expensive wines.
