some definite smokiness right off the bat. with a little heat. on the palate getting a red flavored hookah going on. pleasant and dig it overall. the smoke on this gives me a little earth ... combined with vanilla. Well. it's just hookah.

I was rather disappointed with this. Kind of an intriguing nose, which to me was much more expressive than the wine was on the palate. Hoping it will come together with a few more years in bottle but right now it is disjointed and bitter tannins basically trumped everything else.

mattsito, thanks for the straightforward honest comments. Trios will come together with more bottle age, it is in a phase right now where it shows off and on. Like it's elder siblings its ideal window opens five years from vintage (2011) and holds strong for 5+ years after.

Nose: Sniffing this wine is like walking into Home Depot. Veeery woody in an amazing way.

Taste: Pleasantly smokey, not overwhelming in the least bit. Tastes a lot like a meaty seafood, like a large scallop.

Very happy with this wine, the perfect body. A great thickness and enjoyable finish.

Sometimes when I go to sleep I dream of clouds...

I'm in a universe where there are no walls, only doors. When I open one it leads to another room where there is yet another set of doors. The ceilings are made of butterscotch and the floors are made of...well...they're made of floors.

Stop taking me off topic. Anyway, when I'm walking through these endless rooms of doors I often think to myself about the futility of effort in a world seemingly governed overwhelmingly by chance.

This is the point in the dream where I'm not wearing pants. I think I like this part the best because I find myself most capable in this form of explaining to people what it is I want most.

This wine to me is very much like the aforementioned dream. When you first drink this wine, it's as though your tastebuds are entering into an infinite series of flavor doors. However, before you know it your tastebuds aren't wearing pants and you're pointing out another drink you want.

Marcus, an intriguing review, I'm not sure what it all means, but describing wine in pictures (the stuff of dreams) and feelings certainly is taking wine into a new realm of description. One great part about wine is that it can elicit such a reaction that takes you many places... dreams, clouds, thru doors. {The pant-less factor we will leave for Bacchus to interpret}

Red cherry, tobacco and a good oak presence on the nose. Good red fruit right off the bat, but then it segways into some heat on the back. I'd guess that this will subside with another year of age.

JMC says this taste like juice.
basically it is very very sweet.

Try not to confuse "sweet" with "fruity" since there isn't any residual sugar (RS) in the Trios, a technically dry wine. The trios is still bottle shocked and will blossom from it's current more basic state into a wonderfully layered wine.
