Aroma: smokey, cheery/fruit, clove
Taste: Spicy and smooth
Other: Sexy! Great! a stand alone or pariable with a lot of different foods, something with onions. Very tasty, good deal for price, goes excellent with goat cheese

(over 2 years ago)Great inexpensive Pinot. Similar to the Mirassou.

(over 2 years ago)This is a classic Pinot for the price. Light, cherry fruit, great with food -- doesn't dominate the flavors of fine dining.

Echelon 2005 Pinot Noir
(over 2 years ago)When first opened, this wine was a bit harsh. The initial nose was full of alcohol, with some notes of blueberry, cherry, and maple syrup. Body was light, spicy, definite bing cherry. I decided to reserve a glass and let it breathe for 3 hours. After decanting, the nose was dried apricot, and still I got maple syrup for some reason, maybe mango too. The flavor did mellow too, less spice, still heavy on cherry through the finish. I drank it with a mushroom-herb risotto and it matched very well. A good pinot for a fair price (12$ at Trader Joe's). I will probably buy again, but decant for 6 hours or so.
