Red Wine Petite Sirah by Bogle from California. This wine is a complex contradiction of characteristics: powerful fruit and viscosity make this a big hearty red, yet soft and supple tannins finish the wine with finesse. Chocolate, tobacco and violets spring from the bouquet, hinting at the richness... Continued at wine.com ›

Bogle 2004 Petite Sirah
(over 2 years ago)A gift from my friend Dan C., this is a great wine. Deep flavors of black pepper and dark fruits stand out. An amazing aroma took me right back to my most recent trip to wine country. There's a subtle sweetness there too, beneath the surface.

(over 2 years ago)This red wine surprised me. While I didn't have it with a meal, it stood alone quite well and had a very smooth finish. This is a definitely a red wine I'll keep a stock of!

(over 2 years ago)One of my all-time favorite wines. We served this one at my wedding. The Petite Syrah is the best thing Bogle does and they do it well. Goes well with just about everything I've paired it with. Especially sharp cheeses, BBQ'd meats and tomato-based pasta sauces. Very drinkable, and a great find for the price. If you're lucky, you can find it for $8 or so when it's on sale at bev-mo or cost-plus.

(over 2 years ago)Peppery and robust, with flavors of oak, but still incredibly smooth. Really stands on its own legs, a great glass even independent of a food pairing. So far, Bogle is batting 1.000 in my book!

(about 1 year ago)Have had this wine many times, but kept forgetting to review it. Big and bold and purple. Smokey blackberries is how I'd best describe the taste. Love this wine.

(about 1 year ago)Love this wine for the price. Stands well alone, with pasta or with red meats. This is hands down one of my favorite standbys. Nice strong flavors.

(about 1 year ago)Very good value for $8. Smooth fruity and blackberry taste, a little light on the finish though. Just a hint of smoke and pepper in the finish.

(about 1 year ago)Flabby and some icky plonkiness ruin what could have been some nice fruits.

(about 1 year ago)A light smoothness to a very berry-pepper and smoke taste. Excellent!

(about 1 year ago)Be careful not to let this one get too warm! I had left it open for a few hours at room temperature on a fairly hot day. When I first tasted it, it was terrible! The flavours were sour, sharp and all disjointed. So, I decided to let it sit in the fridge for forty minutes. After being cooled a bit, the flavours of this wine settled into place. At cooler temperatures, this wine has a pleasant sugary, blackberry jam taste; quite smooth and balanced. It's not unlike a thick layer of jam on toast with side of bacon. There is, unfortunately, an artificial flavouring grit that sticks to the tongue. It is, I think, a large fault in the body of the wine.

(7 months ago)Another great wine from Bogle - rich and spicy with loads of ripe, jammy berry flavors and undertones of pepper and oak.
