Red Wine Zinfandel by Bonny Doon from Central Coast, California. The grapes derive almost exclusively from ancient vines in the thermically overachieving Sacramento Delta. The secret of old vines is that they can, in principle, owing to their deep roots, more or less always keep their cool. We permitted the wines... Continued at wine.com ›

(over 2 years ago)This guy is dry, slightly fruity (mostly berry tastes... maybe a little cirtus), with hints of rose and juniper. Talk about tasty! If you can find the 2003, that's really worthwhile too. Probably my favorite.

(over 2 years ago)A very tasty dry red with a nice full body and a deep fruity finish.

(over 2 years ago)My wife and I dig this wine so much that a poster of the label hangs in our kitchen. Great with a nice pepper-crusted New York strip steak.

(over 2 years ago)Had this one at Christmas. Even some non-red wine drinkers enjoyed this one. As I remember, it was a little spicy, with a fairly clean/fruity finish. A nice wine.

(over 2 years ago)One of my consistently favorite wines, a really nice balance between fruit and spice. Great with a steak or cedar plank grilled salmon.

(over 2 years ago)Nice label but I didn't think the wine was all that great. Dry, yes, but also slightly 'hot'.

(over 2 years ago)I was lured to this bottle by the Ralph Steadman artwork on the label; we found it to be quite nice for the price. We paid $17.99 for our bottle and enjoyed it with grilled hamburgers and friends.

(about 1 year ago)Nice fruity dry wine. Love Steadmans labels but the wine is very good too.

(9 months ago)The flavors were not as intense as expected. Contrary to what I have read about Zinfandels, it was less alcoholic than the Yalumba, with very little bite. There is a pleasant fruitiness - blackberries and raspberries - yet the flavors are unclear and hard to isolate. The nose seems darker, though with a lemon-rind, perhaps grassy tinge. Its aromas are less heady than the Yalumba - in fact, the alcohol is barely noticeable in the nose, though it is only 0.5% less by volume than the Yalumba (13.5%). Disappointing, given Ralph Steadman's colorful description in Untrodden Grapes. An uninspiring, if unoffending wine. Beautiful bottle! 9/30/07
