STG 2002 Cabernet Sauvignon
(over 2 years ago) buddy icon truanttruism 95.0/100
My most profound Cabernet experience. The bouquet consisted of a dry wood smell that I couldn’t quite identify and cassis, which I erroneously identified as black currant at first. On the palate there was opulent black cherry and licorice, but the topper was in the finish. I have always read about how fine California Cabernets have a characteristic mint finish, but I had never experienced it until this bottle. The mint was just confirmation that this is an elite bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon.
