(about 1 year ago)Thoroughly enjoyable wine. Good for after work at home while trying to relax.

(about 1 year ago)Grapedonk heartily approved of the label on this wine. “Naked broads with long flowing hair . . . nice!” And on a bicycle, even better. Grapedonk shows off his vintage 70’s NOS Champion.
The wine smelled promising, but it had a weird corroded copper-pipe aftertaste when it was first opened. After 20 minutes, though, it shaped up nicely. If you like lighter reds, this Pinot is a good choice—though a little pricey.

(about 1 year ago)Nose: Copper, Strawberry, and Cherry. Palate: A bit of burnt cherry. Bought this ten dollar Pinot because it had won two gold medals in a San Francisco Wine Contest. Not horrible, but definitely not deserving of any medals.

(about 1 year ago)Eh. Bringing a little bit of smoked cherry/tobacco that I get from a lot of pinot noir. Can be enjoyed but it's a bit empty and that leaves a bit too much alcohol roaming around my mouth. I think what some other reviewers detect as copper I taste as a hint of the smell of medical equipment you just opened (like an unused blood bag or sterilized surgical equipment). I feel like there is a great wine in there somewhere which makes me sad.

(about 1 year ago)Solid, enjoyable everyday wine - smooth, fruity blend. Better than many of the wines I've paid this price for.

(12 months ago)Dusty mushroom and earth. Dark, spicy. Rich and assertive for the varietal. Good stuff.

(8 months ago)Initially quite metallic. Not nice! However, this fades after having been open for half an hour or so and improves more in the glass. Jolly light and very quaffable. Lovely fruits! The 2006 follows.

(6 months ago)As a cyclist I love the label. As a wine enthusiast this Pinot falls short. There was a redeeming earthy, strawberry, tobacco overtone.

(4 months ago)"You brought THAT home?" My wife looked at the label art of a nude woman flailing behind the bars of a bicycle. "Dunno. The lady (at the wine store) said it was good." Good grief, if we all thought alike, there'd be no Pepsi AND Coke, right? Well, Bicycle Gladiator Pinot needs naked women on the label. Otherwise, it's not that interesting. Pinot lovers will find Bicycle to be thin, uncomplicated...but not in the way that makes a Pinot be good. More like, "Hey. Did someone pour water in my Merlot?" The bouquet is promising, but after that...first notes are very berry, then "sssssssssss" like water evaporating off of hot concrete, just blah. It's not wretched, but frankly, YellowTail Pinot Noir is so much more flavorful, complex - buy a bottle of THAT for $6 and compare it to the $9 for Bicycle and you realize the reason there's naked women on the label. Yawn.
