2004 Yellow Tail Shiraz
(2009-02-03 20:44:01 UTC)I used to love this wine; its like the swedish berries of wine; strong, fruity and tart, but not sophisticated. And if you drink too much of it, you get sick of it. I think its best paired with equally strong food.

I bought a couple of bottles and had such a bad experience with the first that I swore I would not use the 2nd which I didn't until my daughter opened it a couple of years later. Just as bad the second time around. Band, insipid, like Kool aid.

(2007-11-13 20:35:10 UTC)A plush ripey! I had this with strawberries and a hunk of dark chocolate, and it was perfection. It has a soft texture, and smells of berries and vanilla. This Shiraz is great on its own or with rich, distinctive food--otherwise, the tannins will overwhelm whatever else you're eating.

(2007-10-02 03:54:53 UTC)This wine is a testament to the miracle that is Australian winemaking: the climate is so perfect for grapes like shiraz that you can make a darn good one for next to nothing. While not very complex, the YT shiraz has enough bold fruit and spicy character to register as a solidly "not bad" shiraz. Considering the price, this is a rave review. This wine is a steal (whereas most other "supermarket" brands of shiraz, in spite of Australia's great climate and land, still manage to suck.)
