Menage a Trois 2005 Red Table Wine
(over 2 years ago)Very ballanced and very hard not to chug. I honestly picked this up because of the shelf tag...88 points California State Fair. For the price- sub 15 smacks- its impressive. Medium fruit, something slightly woody, round, and then there's that mellow pomegranate thing happening at the finish....leaves the top of your palete slighlty tart, but the big fat begining makes that ok, almost welcome.

(over 2 years ago)This is the second time I've had this wine, a little sweater than I remember. Still great for the price. Good strawberry and raspberry fruit aromas. Also get a woodsy / oakly aroma with it.

(about 1 year ago)For a $7 bottle of wine, this is a great value. Not fabulous, but good with food. Definite tastes of sweet fruit. Slight bit of dryness in the finish is nice.

(about 1 year ago)Rich purple color. Brambly nose, Zin is showing clearly. Good red fruit on the nose, raspberry, strawberry, a little Asian Five Spice. Not bad so far. Great initial mouth fell, hits the palate smoothly albeit a bit sugarfied for my liking. Nice red fruit attack, clove on the mid-palate, and a strange caramel or dairy aspect, oak monster perhaps? Nice acidity in the mid-palate, very soft tannins finish is medium with definite raspberry and blackberry notes on the end. I'm surprised by this effort, it reminds me a bit of somewhat less refined Twenty Rows Grappler. The only thing that bothers me here is a little too much oak, and a smidgen too much residual sugar. Good party wine and everyday drinking.

(11 months ago)Deep purple color. Brambly, slightly oaky nose. no legs. longer than average length. taste of black/raspberry, and a unique buttery-caramely oak. enjoyable silky, creamy texture. very low tannins. flavors a little week, however texture was very enjoyable.
