Tasting Notes from Cork’d Members
1947 Cheval Blanc
(over 2 years ago)Tasted along with the 1961 Cheval Blanc. Though this wine was still a wonderful drink, I think that it has strolled just over the hill. Though some in the group said that it came around with a little time in the glass, I myself was slightly disappointed by the lack of cohesion in it. It seemed to have a medicinal note to it and lacked any form of tannin or acidity. There were two bottles though, so I may have had a pour out of the lesser of the two.

(9 months ago)What the hell people? Why is this wine getting scores of 82 on Cork'd, and why is the price listed as having only one dollar sign? This is literally a priceless bottle of wine. I was astoundingly lucky to try this at a tasting in Singapore, and it was without a doubt the best wine I have ever tasted. Utterly decadent, almost port-like in texture and flavor. Either the bottle was overly agitated and improperly stored, or the wine that was poured was a counterfeit bottle, which is a fairly well-documented phenomenon with post-war clarets.
