2003 Urban Valle de Uco Malbec
(over 2 years ago)Very simple without much complexity in the flavor, but juicy and good. Excellent value for the price. Notes of currants with a good tannin structure. Very well-balanced. A little bit spicy.
2003 Urban Valle de Uco Malbec
(about 1 year ago)A muddy ruby color. Cherry cola and leather on the nose. Modest fruit wrapped in earthy/dusty flavors and drying tannins. It softens nicely after an hour and some of the funk blows off. And it improves quite a bit with 24 hours on the counter -- much more plummy fruit comes through while retaining a nice backbone of earthiness. This is an interesting wine when you want something unusual, just give it some time.
