Aromas of ripe plums, cherries and fresh red fruit accented by peppery notes. Palate: Well balanced and medium weight wine with flavors of ripe plums, cherries and red fruit. Lively with a soft mineral finish and round tannins that linger in a long peppery finish.

(about 1 year ago)ok stuff, but the alcohol is pretty strong (13%). It about blows your nose away with the alcohol smell. It tastes very slightly of plums, strawberries, black cherry, and walnut. There's a chalky finish in the wine's aftermath.

(about 1 year ago)Very light for Chianti ... not bad but not great either

(about 1 year ago)Updated review: Based on the other favorable reviews, I decided to give this wine another try. I'm happy to report that this bottle was much more in line with what I was expecting. Not quite as good as the previous two vintages, but enjoyable nevertheless. It was even better a day or two after uncorking. Deep color and full bodied. A steal for $8.99. It seems the first bottle I tried back in the summer must have been spoiled.

(about 1 year ago)What on earth are these other people talking about? I disagree with these negative reviews. Actually, I thought this wine was quite tasty. Very earthy, it smells of ripe strawberries and plums. It's got a nice ruby red to purple color and goes down very well. You won't find a better wine for the price. I tried the Da Vinci 2003 Chianti Classico for 19 dollars, and didn't like it as much. 07/07 PS-13% alcohol is low for a red!

(about 1 year ago)This wine, while not fabulous initially, is completely inoffensive. It is somewhat light as another reviewer noted, however it is FAR from being a "50". It is much more enjoyable with the right kind of meal. It is easily overwhelmed and likely the reviewer who noted it as sour simply ate the wrong food with it. I enjoyed this wine despite my taste for big and bold shiraz. The lightness grew on me after a few sips, its a refined and tasteful wine. It also smells great and my bottle didn't have a notable scent of alcohol.

(about 1 year ago)This is a standby Chianti for me, especially when I can get it on sale for about $11. I find that it improved with some air and it often as good or better the 2nd day if I've opened and resealed a bottle.

(about 1 year ago)I am very pleased with this chianti. I grew up with wine at family dinners and chianti was most frequently my parents' choice. Chianti is special to me and I am somewhat picky about selection. I will buy this vintage again if I find it at the same or even slightly higher price. I do not understand the negative reviews. This wine states clearly that it is a chianti in aroma, color, taste and finish. I do believe that Chianti is best with food and if one sits down merely to quaff they may be disappointed.

(about 1 year ago)this is good stuff - you can't go wrong for the price. to me it tastes like a more expensive chianti. i had it with homemade mushroom and fire-roasted tomato lasagna and it was to die for!

(11 months ago)I am surprised at some of the negative reviews on this bottle. I just love this chianti! It is a pleasant red, with berries and a hint of vanilla. Medium-bodied, lots of fresh fruit and a medium finish... and a great price. What is not to love?

(3 months ago)I'm more or less just getting into wine, so take this for what it's worth. In my quest lately to try various reds, this jumped out at World Market, so I bought a bottle. I love this stuff! It's great with pork, and I agree with a couple of the other reviews I saw stating it's better a day or two after uncorking. I'm eager to try some other Chiantis and see how this stacks up, but for now, I'm very pleased with it. Quite fruity, an easy "starter wine."
