Woot Cellars 2004 Monkey Prize Cabernet Sauvignon
(about 1 year ago)This bottle initially felt dull and run-of-the-mill. After a second taste, this bottle then felt fresh and almost fruity. ... + or - evals... Distinct varietal character: +, Integration: +, Expressiveness: -, Complexity: -, Connectedness: - EDIT: 2 stars to 3 stars, giving a PLUS (+) to Expressiveness. I had this wine again, this time after aerating for about half an hour. The wine opened up A LOT and was actually EXTREMELY pleasant. For $10/bottle, this is an amazing value. The second tasting merits 4 stars, but I will give an overall of 3 STARS to take into consideration the first review.

(about 1 year ago)Color and texture is rather light, but nice. Not pitch black, not "very silky". Nose is so pleasant, with hints of plum, dark cherries, and very earthy nose. Very obvious earthy tones on the nose and initial flavor. Very, very pleasant. Just had a steak burger for dinner with it. To me, not more than a medium bodied wine, so it paired very well with my steak burger. Although its 'weight' is only medium, it fills the palad real well (good mouthfill), pleasant complexity of different flavors, and a fairly long finish (earthy. Concepción comments 'wet soil'). Soft tannins. Good buy. I gave it 89 points before. Today is a 90 point wine.
