Casillero del Diablo 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon
(over 2 years ago)Medium bodied and slightly sweet. Tastes predominately of oak with hints of cherry and currant. Great finish but a little rough around the edges. Fantastic when allowed to breathe for a few hours - really develops the flavor. My preferred table wine.

(over 2 years ago)Young wine, tannins initially overpower the flavor - you really need to open this one up a lot. Once you do it reveals some flavor, but it's a bit thin or watered down - so the overall taste doesn't really do anything for me.

(over 2 years ago)A good stand by that once it opens up is full of flavor but make sure you open it and walk away for a while before the dark fruit flavors are opened over the tannins.
Casillero del Diablo 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon
(over 2 years ago)One of my favorite $10-ish wines. I first had it with an excellent Indian dinner where it was a wonderful match for the spicy curries. I wouldn't serve it alongside a dish with subtle flavors, but with a properly pungent dish pairing this wine will hold its own.

(over 2 years ago)Nice cheap-ish bottle which goes great with strong tasting food and cheeses.
Casillero del Diablo 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon
(over 2 years ago)A bit bitter with a strong aftertaste. If you typically prefer Cabernet, then you'll probably like this wine better more than me.
Casillero del Diablo 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon
(over 2 years ago)It is dark and warm, with very distinct spicy oak flavors that may put off some. It is a young wine but it benefits from a bit of aeration. Given enough time to breathe it will soften and become quite potable. Pairing this wine with an appropiate meal will hide some of it's aggressiveness and bring forth its best qualities.
Pairing with cheese is an excellent choice.
As with many of Concha y Toro wines this one jogs around with very long legs - 14% by volume
For under $10 this wine is decent, but only average. There are other excellent wines out there within the same price ranges. This review could easily be applied to 2005 as well.

(about 1 year ago)Got a bit tipsy off of this stuff. Enjoyed drinking it, but forgot to take notes. Not the first or the last bottle that I drank from that night.
