The biggest, juiciest Shiraz I've ever had. This wine doesn't disappoint... it tastes better with every sip. Not sure why it only has one dollar sign though... I've never seen a bottle for less than $100. Worth every penny though.

The fruit very much so dominates the pepper aspect, or at least, at this age (within a year of release) it does. Surprisingly, I got an even mix of red and black fruits that felt full-bodied with a very long finish. If with food, you're definitely going to have to choose dishes that bring flavor b/c mild dishes will be completely drowned out by this wine. It did not bring the heat as I would have expected given its alcohol level. It's probably the best 100% Shiraz that I've had, and WELL ahead of the boxer in my opinion. I just don't think it gives me all that I would expect from a 99RP - maybe if cellared, it'd bring more elegance to the table.

Note, the 2006 was just released, and this tasting was just done this last week, so the wine has had a chance to cellar for one full year. Let me just say...it is better than ever! Tasting thoughts: An explosion of dark wild berries, licorice, hints of vanilla, cream, coffee. Controlled tannins dance over your tongue seamlessly. This wine is so elegantly smooth, it is like a wild beast of flavors, encased in silk as it slides around your mouth. It is only complete with a finish that seems to go on endlessly. Few wines will ever come close to deserving a perfect 100 point rating. This one is sooo close... This last weekend, we did a two-year vertical of the Mollydooker Carnival of Love 2005 and 2006. Can you think of anything better? Here is the article if you are interested... http://www.foodwineblog.com/wine-reviews/mollydooker-carnival-of-love-2-year-vertical-tasting/

This one was a doozy...that's right, a doozy. Right off the bat it was full of fruit, with woodsy tones. Then it just kept opening up and got better and better - more balanced, more flavorful, wow. Awesome grape juice.
