Layer Cake Pure Love Wines 2005 Shiraz
(about 1 year ago)this is fucking incredible. Layers of flavors, sweet top to dense woody bottom. I'm not even sure I can pick out all of the flavors in the spectrum here - I need more to judge this wine. Like maybe a case. Really fucking incredible, probably the best expression of an Aussie Shyrah I've ever had.

(about 1 year ago)I loved this very bold Shiraz. It is a bit massive, but give it an hour to decant and it starts to smell and taste like a Black Forest Cake - sour cherries and raspberries, lots of chocolate.
Layer Cake Pure Love Wines 2005 Shiraz
(about 1 year ago)Fantastical. This Shiraz is full, silky smooth, and has pronounced flavors of cherries and chocolate. Probably one of the best Shiraz I've ever had.

(about 1 year ago)I agree. This wine has great mouthfeel and wonderful flavors. Chocolate, fruit, spice, the whole works. For $12 it's a STEAL.

(about 1 year ago)Big wine! I taste cherry, black pepper, and earth. About a 45 second finish. Definitely a good buy for the price, a "buy-again" wine, and one to impress your friends with.

(about 1 year ago)I have to say, after all the hype surrounding this wine, I came away pretty unimpressed… It’s just too much for me… Too sweet upfront on the palate (kind of an artificial blueberry thing), kind of an awkward sour, flabby mid-palate, and then finally way too much alcohol in the finish. Really not my cup of tea. I paired this with a red pepper marinara I had made, and that was a pretty bad match. Outside of something crazy sweet like BBQ, I‘d be hard pressed on what to have with it.
Layer Cake Pure Love Wines 2005 Shiraz
(about 1 year ago)Blueberry bomb with lots of cedary oak and some menthol. Very viscious and no serious tannins to speak of. This is the third wine in this style that I've had and I'm beginning to tire of it already. I mean its tasty, but kind of boring.
Layer Cake Pure Love Wines 2005 Shiraz
(about 1 year ago)Very bold wine, (yes fruit bomb) but unique for this price.
Layer Cake Pure Love Wines 2005 Shiraz
(about 1 year ago)Really not my thing. Had one bottle last fall that was overpowered by black pepper and menthol -- I couldn't finish the glass. Gave it another go early this summer and things had definitely settled down, although the spiciness was still a factor. If you're into big, bold Aussie flavors, you may enjoy it. Otherwise, steer clear.
