Rancho Zabaco Sonoma Heritage Vines 2003 Zinfandel
(about 1 year ago)Big fruit on the nose, typical zin spiciness with blackberry/raspberry flavors and a little pepper. It had pretty agressive tannin, even after being open for 2+ hours.

(about 1 year ago)I purchased this at the same time I bought the 2002 vintage, for a great price. The 2003 expression has a big, plum/blackberry/anise nose w/ plenty of tannin & pepper; the taste is kind of narrow, mostly tannic and peppery. I like it, but it lacks the balance of the 2002.

(about 1 year ago)Ruby red but rather light in color for Zinfandel, with nice legs in glass. Very appreciable and enjoyable nose, supported by red and black cherries, but also underlined by evident alcohol vapors that upset my wife. Enters pleasant and fruity in palate, but it gets downgraded by fakeness in flavor, heat, and an annoying amount of oak flavor that leads to a bitter finish. Dissapointment.
