(about 1 year ago)Great value. Very drinkable bottle of French - especially for the price.

(about 1 year ago)did a 'seven dollar showdown' with this and la vieille ferme. made for an interesting comparison of two rhones of similar makeup that were quite different, especially on the nose. the chapoutier was much earthier, dirtier, with more muted fruit. it had decent acidity, but i wouldn't call it 'fresh' feeling. more leather. more stink. this profile made for an interesting wine, especially for the price. will continue to keep a few bottles of this on hand at all times, as it's a good, solid wine. (on a side note, the la vieille ferme was fruitier - big league chew with the dirt! - and a bit fresher. my wife liked this one more. both are good QPR, imo)

(about 1 year ago)Good. Not special, but good. medium body. balanced fruit and earth. Good value for price. Purchased at Wine & Cheese Cask, Somerville, MA

(about 1 year ago)I agree with wolfie, but I think a lot of the stink came from the over-alcoholic aromas of this wine. I think there was a lot of nice fruit there, but it was just masked by this huge amount of vodka like alcohol... Not that impressed, but will have to try again after a few rounds of scotch.

(11 months ago)decent QPR bottle of CDR. nothing special but enjoyable none the less.

(10 months ago)Nice and light but good mouthfeel. Subtle cherry and raspberry flavors with a stone like finish.

(10 months ago)nice for the price. hot alcohol on the nose. black licorice, not anise! some red raspberries as well. Medium to thin body with firm-ish tannins on the finish. Some vanilla, tart cherries on the palate.

(10 months ago)Chalky, alchoholy and under-ripe strawberries on the nose....and on the pallate for that matter. Kind of reminds me of little league days when they brushed off homeplate when you were up...with some strawberry gum popping in the mouth (and a little vodka on the side). Good, but generic. Might be nice in a comparison tasting, but on its own, I'm not quite feeling it.

(8 months ago)Deep garnet color in appearance. Cherries, licorice, and hint of violets make for a juicy, full-bodied wine that has straightforward berry fruit and licorice flavors. Good value Cotes du Rhone.

(7 months ago)On opening I was getting some cherry on the nose with a lot of heat on the palate. The next day, however, I'm getting next to nothing on the nose, but the heat is greatly reduced. Really a no win situation I guess. Overall the wine is light in texture and flavor on the palate.
