Tasting now before dinner: Deep semi-opaque purple-red color. On the nose: Black cherry, dark fruits, smokey, toasty, vanilla aromas, a whiff of alcohol makes it known this is a young monster. On the palate: Totally 'new world'. Rich, explosive dark fruit. A bit hot on the just-opened bottle. Will decant awhile per many of the tasting notes here. The mid-palate is all dark fruits, blackberries, plums, a hint of blueberries, black cherries, some small amount of black currant. Complementing the mid-palate are some herbaceous/menthol notes. The texture is rich and jammy/extracted. Totally new world fruit-heavy but not sweet or cloying. Acidity and tannins are on the back burner, yet present to an extent that the wine is still in the realm of what I consider balanced. Spicy with black and white pepper and toasty, smoky oak. This is a big boy...but with a little air time it opened up and integrated beautifully.

Good body and weight. Med.-long finish, with soft tannins.

Aromas of sweet cherry jam, cedar, ripe plum, and milk chocolate.

Flavours of jammy plum and cherry, milk chocolate.

I get a lot of dark fruit on the nose: blackberry, blueberry, and dark cherry. I little bit of smoke and spice coming through as well. Dark cherry and cassis flavours coming though. Tannins are very smooth and there is a touch of acidity in the finish.

Full bodied, dark color. Licorice, pepper, cassis, blackberry, raspberry, cherry, black olive on the nose. Silky texture. Blackberry, cherry, raspberry, licorice, a hint of smoke, some olive, slight leather, pepper, fine tannin on the palate with a long satisfying finish. Truly outstanding aromatic and complex wine for a price that can't be beat for wine of this quality. Drinkable now but can probably last for another six years. Parker gives it a 93.
